Coverage ends the earliest of:

  2. The date the insured is scheduled to arrive at the place to which the insured is scheduled to return from a covered trip;
  3. The 30th consecutive day after the date the insured is scheduled to begin the covered trip; or

What is a “covered trip”?

A “covered trip” means any travel and sojourn to a scheduled destination that is more than 120 miles from the starting point and not exceeding 30 consecutive days. The number of cities or countries visited during any trip is irrelevant.

What if a trip is longer than 30 days?

The insured would have coverage for the first 30 consecutive days of a trip in which travel and sojourn is to a scheduled destination more than 120 miles from the starting point. Coverage would end at 12:01 a.m. on the 31st day of the insured’s trip.

Can I buy travel insurance after an incident has occurred?

Only incidents that occur after your policy is in effect are considered. Insurance does not cover events that are no longer unexpected or unforeseen. If you were to purchase an iTravelInsured program after learning that a family member is sick, and this event causes you to cancel your trip, no trip cancellation benefits would be payable under the terms of the policy.

Do I have to travel abroad to be covered?

You do not have to leave your country or cross international boundaries; simply travel to a destination at least 120 miles from the starting point for which you have purchased: (i) a ticket on board a common carrier, or (ii) a hotel room, or (iii) a ticket for admission to any event.

Are pre-existing medical conditions excluded from coverage?

Benefits for emergency illness, injury or death that is a result of a pre-existing condition will be covered if:

  1. The insured is medically able to travel on the date coverage is purchased;
  2. An injury or illness has not manifested itself during the 60 days immediately before the purchase of the iTravelInsured program; and
  3. The condition has been controlled through the taking of prescription drugs or medication and remains controlled throughout the 60 day period immediately before the purchase of the program.
